The BMW and MINI Lifelog research explores how the complex sensor systems within BMW and MINI automobiles can be used to develop a car-as-character. By gathering and logging specific sensor data into the lifelog, a story emerges about the relationships drivers develop with their cars based on driving style, places traveled, fuel efficiency, etc. In car, drivers receive notifications about driving achievements, milestones reached, local information, or might be prompted by their car to go on a driving mission, all displayed on the iDrive system. Out of car, drivers can review their entire driving history with their car on mobile devices such as phones and tablet, or on the web.
